Focus Behind Gallup’s StrengthsFinder
The theory driving Gallup’s StrengthsFinder (GSF) is that you can foster your own interpersonal communication progress if you are aware of your characteristic strengths. By utilizing your natural talents, you can benefit your employer and achieve a higher level of job satisfaction and enjoyment.
GSF is formally referred to as Gallup’s Clifton StrengthsFinder Assessment. With this behavioral exam, you will find your unique strengths, defined by GSF as a combo consisting of knowledge, skills, and talents. The positive application of those strengths can make a world of difference in life as well as in the workplace.
Format and Content of GSF
In search of your strongest qualities, StrengthsFinder presents 177 sentence pairs to be answered within an hour. Expect a computerized format. Some of the duos are opposites, some are similar, and others have no apparent relationship. A total of 34 characteristics are highlighted through your selection of the sentence that most closely reflects your thoughts, feelings, or behaviors.
The results consist of your top five qualities. Instead of trying to fix whatever ails your behavior, you are expected to productively apply your highest five natural talents in order to better effectuate the tasks associated with your position.
In a very real sense, an individual’s strengths define their personality. Ten of the 34 characteristics spotlighted within GSF include:
- Adaptability – adjusting to changing realities
- Includer – accepting everyone
- Ideation – interested in ideas
- Empathy – feeling as though you are in the other person’s shoes
- Competition – assessing your growth in comparison to others
